The Artist

Woodworking since 1985.

I am a maker based in Minneapolis, Minnesota. I was introduced to woodworking and woodturning in high school. With no formal training, I taught myself the art of woodworking. I bought my first entry level “Buffalo” lathe in college and started turning bowls and candle holders and I was hooked. Also inspired by furniture making, I purchased woodworking equipment to make my own furniture and kitchen cabinets after I graduated college. For the next 30 years I built a house full of furniture and also started a side business of making kitchen cabinets, fireplace surrounds and furniture for a variety of clients. Wanting to use a different medium other than flat stock, and wanting to get back to my early bowl making days, I purchased a new wood lathe and I was hooked again. I produce items out of solid wood and segmented wood. When I am producing each piece I am reminded of a great quote a fellow woodturner told me. “Each piece of wood is unique. The wood will tell you what it wants to be”
